What is epiAuthor and what does it do?
Designed for specialist learning and system simulation content developers, epiAuthor delivers unprecedented flexibility and speed in
creation of documentation, interactive simulations, e-learning content and other training materials for most windows based software
applications.
Using the Epiance award winning ‘ capture ' technology epiAuthor simply records the steps and functions of the tasks within a software
application and generates a variety of desired simulation and document types including:

Why is epiAuthor so unique?
epiAuthor delivers remarkable speed and accuracy through epiAuthor's depth of capture. This means significantly higher levels of
application information, structure, control and details are incorporated into the finished simulations and documentation - reducing the
need for extensive editing and re-working by the author.
In addition, epiAuthor's Remote Portable Capture capability uniquely differentiates the roles of subject matter experts and knowledge
content creators. Often so important. The USB based technology enables capture of numerous applications, tasks and processes
simultaneously and away from the computer where content is being developed. These remotely captured tasks and processes are then
brought back to the office and downloaded directly from the USB drive providing additional flexibility and efficiency in content development.
epiAuthor is available with multiple language output sets including; English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Malay, Arabic, Hindi, Kannada and Hebrew and others. Though the base document template is available in English, epiAuthor provides the flexibility to create/edit the templates in the language of choice.

 epiAuthor shadows actions performed by users on any major computer based application. A subject matter expert records the best
practices step by step. These recorded actions are translated into what we call “capture files”, creating step by step instructions that
include snapshots or screen grabs. Customers can quickly and accurately capture vital knowledge for publishing to a variety of
simulation and document outputs.
 Portable Capture : Uniquely facilitates differentiation between the roles of subject matter experts and knowledge content creators
and adding flexibility and efficiency to the process of recording required tasks and processes. Epiance unique Remote Capture
technology is embedded into the USB Drive /s. The drives are used capture tasks and processes remotely - away from the
development computer – with these stored “capture files” later downloaded for further editing and enhancement.
 Store : Once a task is completed and recorded, the information is stored. epiDOCX provides the usual options for saving and
storing work. The captured and stored files can now be used many times without the need to recapture each of the business processes
or tasks again.
 Develop & Edit : epiAuthor provides rich editing features that allow users the opportunity to review, edit, sort and sequence the
specific task steps in a captured file. In editor mode it is easy to add annotations, callouts (Help Bubbles), ‘sticky notes', Audio & Video,
a variety of graphical elements ( boxes , arrows etc) as well as links to other knowledge and information that maybe relevant to a
particular task or process. A single recorded file may be used to generate multiple simulations, e-learning outputs, MS PowerPoint
presentations and documents in the form of Software Documentation, End User Manuals, Product Manuals, Testing Guides, User Guides,
Sign Off documents, Training Course Manuals, etc and in multiple languages.
